New Season Navy, from kay me

Navy blue – a classic shade that’s suitable for all seasons, and one that we’re very happy to be celebrating today on the kay me blog. Navy blue has been a big inspiration for us this spring: softer than black, richer than grey and yet maintaining its place as a solid neutral that pairs beautifully with other colours. From white and cream to tan and caramel, not to mention on-trend pastels, try partnering our navy with a variety of tones and see how versatile your wardrobe instantly becomes.

Let’s take a closer look at some of our favourite navy dresses for spring and summer 2017…

Navy Venus Drape Dress*

A kay me signature design, all our Venus Drape dresses, including our navy version, are made from a single piece of artfully draped fabric that creates a dramatic hourglass figure. Pair with simple heels to make a strong impression.

Navy Double Twist Dress*

New for spring 2017, our sleeveless Double Twist dresses (also available in hot pink and royal blue) are perfect for dressing up or down. Pair with a kay me jacket in contrasting white or matching navy for easy office style.

Paisley Wrap Dress*

A favourite of kay me founder Junko Kemi, our paisley print wrap dress takes the stress out of morning dressing. Pair with a kay me biker jacket for a work to weekend look.

Navy Raglan Sleeve Dress*

Another new style we’re excited to share is our raglan sleeve dress, created with travel in mind and packed with attention to detail. Pair with casual kay me knitwear, or a tailored kay me jacket for chic situations.

Style focus: Junko Kemi

As the founder of kay me, Junko Kemi has plenty of opportunities to share her style and, needless to say, wear her favourite new kay me items every day!

Long-time fans will already know the story behind kay me: born out Junko’s frustration with the workwear available to women in Japan, she wanted to create an accessible range of stylish and work-appropriate clothing that not only looked good but felt good to wear too. Soft and stretchy, as well as being machine-washable and drip-dry, kay me now provides busy women with versatile dresses, suits, casual jacket and accessories, as well as hosting events and keeping production in Japan with our team of skilled artisans.

Here’s a few of our favourite looks from Junko – to see more take a look at Junko’s blog (Japanese), and our Instagram for daily updates from kay me HQ in Tokyo and beyond.

Vivid spring colours, from kay me

After a chilly March here in Tokyo, the entire kay me team is looking forward to the weather warming up. Spring in the city is of course characterised by the beautiful cherry blossom that blooms across Japan, and our HQ in Ginza is no exception. As well as delicate pastel pinks, there’s also a whole host of bright colours to be found in flower gardens and florists… not to mention also at kay me!

Wonder Earth Venus Drape Dress

A tropical favourite, our Wonder Earth dress combines shades of sunset pink with a striking palm tree print – just add cocktails!

Amaranth Cross Dress

New for 2017, our pretty pink Amaranth dress features perfectly placed seams creating a cross-body shape that enhances your natural silhouette.

Red Cache-coeur Dress

A kay me classic, our cache-coeur dress in bold red is a winner in any season – style it your way for a variety of looks.

It’s All in the Details…

Here at kay me, we’re taking a close look at some of our favourite items, both new for spring 2017 and beloved kay me staples.

We’re passionate about making sure every aspect of kay me lives up to our exacting standards, and being made right here in Japan we can quality check every dress, jacket and skirt and top with our production partners in Tokyo and around Japan.

The chiffon sleeves of our Charlotte dress are perfect for the warmer weather. Each hem is hand finished to ensure to fraying, and feels light as air.

A kay me favourite, our 100% silk Contemporary Kimono dresses, including our Toki Michelle dress, are made from pure silk jersey using patented techniques developed specially with kay me.

Inspired by authentic kimono prints from brand founder Junko Kemi’s grandmother’s shop, our silk kimono dresses are dried naturally using the Kyoto sunshine.

Fans of tweed, get ready to get happy!

Our tweed print jackets and dresses are super soft and stretchy, with our unique tweed-like prints on a textured background for added depth. Even our buttons match!

The elegant central swirl of our Lemon Floral dress (available in Japan, coming soon to kay me International – email for inquiries) is hand-placed and patterned matched, so that only the most beautiful and harmonious combinations of our watercolour-like print proceed to the next stage of our quality checking process.

Finally, last but not least is our label – kay me is proud to be made in Japan!
